Once Baytril is absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract, it is carried to infected tissues in the body via the bloodstream. It can take several days to start to see an improvement in your pet. Separate Baytril from antacids, sucralfate, iron, aluminum, calcium, or dairy products by at least 2 hours or absorption may be decreased. Other drug interactions are also possible. Precautions: Do not give Baytril to animals who are allergic to it or similar medications. Animals with central nervous system dysfunction (ex. epilepsy), liver disease, or kidney disease should be given this medication very cautiously under the direct supervision of a veterinarian. Use should be avoided in dogs who are under 18 months of age or who are still growing unless otherwise directed. Do not use in breeding, pregnant, or lactating animals.
